Feminism and me…
First impressions
Hmm… Feminism. I’ve been hearing about it since I was about 10 but I don’t think I really knew what it meant till I was 19. All along my idea of a feminist was “frustrated bitches” or if you can envision it, a Xena warrior princess with PMS. Sorry for being so crude but thats the closest I can get to describing what I thought of them.
However a lot has changed since I was ten. I’ve grown a few feet taller, I smell worse than I did back then, I actually like the bitter taste of beer, I can understand the difference between a transvestite and a cross dresser and strawberry is no longer my favorite flavor of gum ( mint is).
I’ve also gone out with a few nice girls ( and I’m smart enough not to refer to them as chicks, something that would never have occurred to me back then) from whom I’ve learnt alot about, hmm well girly things like how to be nice and still get what you want ( also known as manipulation) how to correctly and efficiently unhook a bra with one hand, and also the virtue of patience ( a good example is during the lunch break when you’d love to go out and play like all the other guys but she insists you hang around with her and listen to her tell you in graphic detail what transpired in her favorite soap the previous night, the benefits of this of course is that as you patiently “listen”, you can feel her up oh so subtly and also eat the nice red apple her mom packed for her, plus girls tend to horde chocolates for well God knows why so theres no telling what you’ll find in the side pockets of her bag.)
But most importantly (at least as far as this blog is concerned) I’ve learnt about feminism, more precisely the different flavors of it.
Of course I’m a bit of an MCP (yes Ruth I accept it, I am) so at first I was a bit wary about delving into this topic ( weren’t witches feminists or was/is it the the other way round?) also what would my buddies think if they heard the disturbing rumor that Luke is interested in feminism? Would they disown me? Or would they be more subtle and just rough me up on the basketball court ( of course I’m the alpha male plus I’m physically bigger than most of them so thats highly unlikely ( Is’nt bloated ego one of the signs of an MCP?))?
But inspite of the possible pain and rejection that I might be subjected to, I decided to cary on and read up a bit about these ladies who call themselves “feminists”. here goes nothing!

The problem with feminisim is that so many people have a negative perception of what it means to be a feminist. Like the OP said to many people think they are just “frustrated bitches” which is entirely fasle.
Many women and even men are suprised, once they learn the actual definition of feminisim, to find that they are feminists themselves. The true definition of a feminist is simply a person who wishes for equality between men and women.
There are of course different degrees to which people try and achieve that goal and some of them may in fact be “frustrated bitches” but a majority of the population of feminists dont even know that they are feminists or are to afraid to admit it because they are afraid of being called a “frustrated bitch” which is a shame.
